A blazer is a good idea as it looks international, and there will be symmetry of thought and design. It will look classy too. A saree, if not draped well, might not look great. Plus, it will be convenient for the women athletes. We would like to design a black blazer and trousers pair, with a little detailing in terms of a logo or a motif, from say, Jaipur or Udaipur, which would be recognisable and representative of India. We could maybe add a contemporary drape to the blazer so it stands out from the rest. We have to keep in mind that they are athletes and unlike models, will have different body types, so it's best to keep the look understated and classy for everyone.

It's a great idea since it's an internatioÂnal plaÂtÂform, and pantsuits and blazers can make our athletes look global. It also puts forth the fact that our country is celebrated internationally today. I would suggest a sleek, structured pantsuit. The fabric can be something like spandex, which represents the sport.

It won't be very experimental since all the sportswomen have to be comfortable wearing it. It should also be something classic that would look stylish over the years. The cut and silhouette should speak for itself. It shouldn't have embroidery but represent moÂdÂern India. I'd use eartÂhy colours such as browns, khaki, blues or even white.

I would explore a new-age uniform with jacquard, inspired by medieval armour (in pic left). The pattern and concept resonates with the strength that sport demands from an individual along with the opposing attributes of flexibility. I would use a silk and wool blend jacquard fabric and dye it in deep hues.
