Match steps with your partner
Jive has its origins in the swing music that emanated from the US in the 1930s. But the term became popular only after it travelled to Europe with American soldiers during World War II. In India, it became popular after Catholic weddings started featuring the dance. It's thus a style that's suitable for couples, so take your partner along to a workshop where you will learn the basics.

Relationships aren't always a bed of roses. There are quibbles and arguments that every couple has. You might want to step out and meet friends at night. But your partner might want to just cuddle in bed and watch a movie with you. Or, you might want blue shades for your curtain while your significant other is firm on yellow ones. These issues could lead to friction but eventually, the best way is to laugh it out in the end. That's what a stand-up comedy show will point out this weekend, where a host of upcoming comics will roast relationships. So attend it with your partner whether you have had a fight or not. A good laugh never hurts.

Staging a different take on love
If you and your sweetheart are both fans of theatre, this tragic-comic play that follows the structure of absurdist theatre - with a thin plot, series of poetic images and no unity of time, space and action - is apt for a date night. Called Lesser Halves, the story is set in a studio apartment of a postmodern town where a couple resides. The two are detached from the world as nobody visits them and they don't step out either. The narrative, a take on urban life, begins at midnight and shows how the couple tries to conserve the moralities and merits of life.
