Headed by Seema Hardikar, founder of FERN (Foundation for Educational Rendezvous with Nature), sign up for a monsoon flora walk that will offer an opportunity for Mumbaikars to explore the ephemeral flora that comes to life inside the Sanjay Gandhi National Park during the monsoon. Hardikar explains, "We aim to make the general population aware of the endemic species of flora found in the park and how one can prevent harming them unknowingly."
Seasonal herbs found at SGNP
On this four-hour-long trail, which starts at the mouth of a small ghat next to the Kanheri caves, participants can also try their hand at photography or use it to learn how to observe and appreciate nature while witnessing seasonal herbs and flowers like Dipcadi, Balsam, Begonia and Murdannia.

These species are rare and unique to this green lung, and can also be found across the Western Ghats. The importance of preserving these species is seminal owing to their rarity, she adds.
