A Dorje Angchuk work is eye catching and inspirational
If a picture can say a thousand words, imagine what 50 pictures can say? The Nehru Planetarium, Nehru Centre in Worli is saying: you can be on earth and still be amidst the stars. The planetarium will be holding an exhibition of astronomical photographs, beginning today.
Planetarium director Arvind Paranjpye said, "We have approximately 50 photographs. The exhibition will feature photographs of astronomical objects such as the Milky Way galaxy, planets, and star fields taken by astrophotography experts and amateur astronomers." The organisers added, "Astrophotography is a unique art. It involves keeping the camera shutter open for an extended period, needing the photographer to track the celestial object continuously. This distinctive technique is what makes astronomical photography so fascinating." In a world where instant gratification is everything, it also needs oodles of patience, and like they say, the rewards of patience are sweet, as these pictures will show.
The Sky Explorers, a Mumbai ed-tech company that specialises in teaching astronomy and space sciences, has curated this collection of cosmic images.

The exhibition will feature a galaxy of acclaimed astrophotography names like Vikas Chander and Dorje Angchuk. There are several others like Marcel Drechsler and Monika Deviat whose works will also be displayed.
The Planetarium's spokespersons added, "Each of these astro photographers will offer a unique look at the majesty of the universe." This is the medium that will give an opportunity to visitors to immerse themselves in the inky black night sky, captured through the lens of professionals who travel to some of the most remote locations to get that perfect shot.
