Gone are the days when the AI (Artificial Intelligence) on your phone could only cheekily talk back to you. AI can now effectively help you nail your own poem in your favourite poet's style. And no, it doesn't involve poring over volumes of poetry. Verse by Verse, by Google Research, has trained "a cadre of AI poets" on the styles of America's favourite poets to assist the user in writing poetry.

With a bank of classic American poets ranging from Emily Dickinson to Robert Frost, the Android, iOS and web-friendly website requires you to choose three poets. After selecting the poem type and meter, each poet's AI version offers you suggestions that you can refresh till you find a suitable line. The site also renders your composition on four background choices. The results can be competent, sometimes even hilarious, all dependent on how you play along. Give it a shot to discover if it delivers poetic justice.
