An artist at Sundowner Sunday, one of the weekly events at Bonobo
Serving up a slice of music and art with a generous dose of fun cocktails and bites, for 13 years, Bandra-based Bonobo has been giving local talents a leg-up. Ahead of their 13th anniversary, partner and co-founder Nevil Timbadia, who runs the space with Anup Gandhi and Sahil Timbadia, shares that they have constantly been driven by the idea of building a community. "From music and art to food and beverages, we like to keep it interesting and fresh because all of us [founders] have varied interests." And in tune with this journey, Bonobo is marking its step into its teens with Lucky 13, a line-up of 13 events that kicked off last week.
From reaching out to old and new DJs who've played with them, to celebrating their much-loved weekly events, the programming is a mix of food and beverages, art, music and fashion. On offer this week, in the run up to their big day on Sunday, is Taco Tequila Tuesday that will feature 13 flavours of the spirit, such as berries, Thai guava, coconut and more, informs Nevil. One can pair these infusions with the likes of Anjuna tacos, Shanghai tacos, Tokyo tacos or baja fish tacos. "We used to host these monthly jazz nights with the Bombay Jazz Club, which we are restarting this Wednesday," he adds. Thursday's Old School Bar Night, meanwhile, will feature artiste Reji taking over the decks, and drinks at old-school prices.
