Over the years, child developmental studies have listed out the many benefits of making space for kids to connect with nature on their own terms. It enables them to think creatively, nudging formulation of ideas. And nature is the best teacher of mindfulness for all ages. Beyond Academics - a city-based platform known for curating exciting events for children - is back with One with Nature, a two-day festival, will ensure a gala time for children and their parents at Maharashtra Nature Park. Co-founder Labdhi Mehta says, "Our last on-ground meet was in 2019. We are returning after three long years; this year has to be special."

Kabaad se Jugaad

Mehta and Nikita Shah started the initiative because they strongly believe in the essence of nature. "We think arranging activities in a raw and rustic environment facilitates overall growth in kids. There is a main stage area at the venue that hosts free workshops throughout the day. In addition to that, children can sign up for paid activities," Mehta elaborates. Shah notes that within a week of announcing the event, they have received a huge number of inquiries from parents. "For many, attending the festival has become an annual ritual. It is their love that prods us to come back with new concepts."

Beyond Academics has joined hands with partners including Storymirror, World Wildlife Fund and Orange Chimps for their all-day workshops. For instance, The Lil Yogi's Club will hold Yoga Adventures and StoryMirror will conduct a poetry-writing session called Wild about Wildlife. Since the festival is open to children between two and 14 years of age, its activity zone has been divided accordingly. Their Trust Walk, Nature Trails, Adventure and Art Corner are open to all. While Trust Walk includes tyre cross, plank walk and Tarzan swing, zip line, commando net and archery comprise the Adventure section. Five-year-olds can opt for Kabaad se Jugaad - where they learn to make utilities from scrap. Kids can also enjoy the jungle sensory walk and learn from experiments in the nature's lab.
