Mumbai is an emotion that cannot be summed up in words. And where words fall short, we turn to art. The Bombay Quilt, an ongoing online and offline exhibition by Gallery Pradarshak in Khar, brings together 36 artists from different parts of India, each contributing a unique piece to weave a visual quilt of the city's artistic essence.
From traces of the British colonial era, the queen's necklace at the vast sea, the dabbawalas, and Mumbai locals to the glamorous Bollywood, the works serve as a testament to the unity in diversity that defines the city. The exhibition features diverse media such as paintings, sculptures, printmaking, figurative art, abstracts, photography, ceramics, and landscapes, with the artworks confined to a size of 12x12 canvas as a representation of various aspects such as the dream of starting small and reaching greater heights; aptly defining the trajectory of the city and the entrepreneurial people who shape it.
