Even as music races into newer territories like a convict's car that's escaping from the cops, it's prudent to sometimes look into the rearview mirror and reflect on what we have left behind. Iconic French duo Daft Punk did that most noticeably with their last - and ultimately, final - album called Random Access Memories in 2013, where they paid homage to the disco sounds that shaped their growing up years. And now, closer to home, city-based electronic music producer Kumail has done the same with All Night, his latest two-track EP.
It's a concise product that doesn't make you dance as much as it makes you bob your head. A funky bass line flirts with a cheeky synthesiser in Without you, the second track, even as a formidable drum beat acts as the protective boyfriend. All night, the opener, is, on the other hand, the sort of track with which you can remain lost in your partner's arms when all others have left the party. Overall, it's a groovy EP that ensures that six minutes of your life are enjoyably spent.
