70-year-old woman robbed of gold ornaments at gunpoint in Dadar

A 70-year-old woman at Mumbai's Dadar area was allegedly robbed at gunpoint on Monday evening. The woman in her complaint told police that the man looted gold ornaments worth Rs 10 to 12 lakh. City cops have registered an offence against an unknown person for the robbery.

According to Dadar Police, the incident occurred at a building near Kirti College between 4.45 pm to 5.15 pm. A man knocked on the door of a flat in which a 70-year-old woman lives. When she opened the safety door, a man told her he had brought sweets from a person named Raikar. When the woman opened the main door, he barged in and held the woman by the throat.

"The man then pointed out a gun on her neck and asked her to get all the ornaments. And ran away within a few minutes," said an official from Dadar police station. "The man was wearing a blue cap, blue shirt and pants," he added.

"As per the complaint we have filed an offence against unknown person under IPC section 394 (voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery), 397 (robbery with attempt to cause death or grievous injury), 452 (house trespass with preparation of hurt), 342 (wrongful confinement) and relevant sections of Arms Act," said Mahesh Mugutrao, Senior Inspector of Dadar police station.

"The robber took away golden ornaments of 200 to 250 grams worth 10 to 12 lakh rupees" he added.
