Mathura: A retired judge in Haryana was deprived of a bag containing some cash and important papers by three motorcycle-borne cheats who used the ruse of claiming there was a fire in the former's car to effect their robbery.
According to police, the incident took place near Kosi Kalan bus stand in the afternoon yesterday.
The three motorcycle-borne persons rode up alongside the vehicle of JN Yadav of Gurgaon and told him that there was a fire in the car. The false alarm, however, prompted him to brake and Yadav got out of the car to check about the warning from the trio.
"The cheats took out his bag when he was assessing whether there was a fire along with his wife and other family members," police said, adding that the retired judge discovered the theft when he re-entered the car.
