Meerut: In a shocking incident, a man along with two other persons today allegedly attempted to kill his wife by thrusting her face into boiling oil for objecting to his drinking habit at Uttam Nagar area here.
The accused Vijaypal and one of his friends, Krishnapal, who is the head constable at Hapur police line, have been arrested. The third accused, Ashok, is at large. Police Inspector Omprakash said the victim Santosh, 40, has been admitted to hospital in a serious condition.
The incident took place when Santosh was in the kitchen and her husband along with Krishnapal and Ashok came and thrust her face into a container of hot oil, he said. Santosh had an argument with her husband and his friends over their drinking habit before the incident, he said.
On the basis of a complaint filed by the victim's son, an FIR has been registered in this connection and the matter is being investigated, police said.
