The Crime Branch Unit VIII have claimed to bust the Western Express (WE) Highway robbers gang after arresting four accused. The gang of four robbers operated as tourist guides before they started their robbery gang after they failed to get work as guides.
All the four accused playing different roles before targeting vehicles on WE highway in night, and most of the times they used to target loaded vehicles and abandoned the driver and vehicle at isolated place after targeting them.
According to crime branch sources, all the four accused have been identified as Shehzad Khan (28), Hamid Sadik Sheikh (44), Hashib Noorani (38) and Vilash Roadkar (28), all the arrested accused were arrested from Juhu Galli locality and they residing at Bandra (E).
Fed up with the repeated complaint about the robbers gang, the crime branch was keeping the close tab on this gang, couple of days back, Dindohsi police has registered the case against this gang for looting an tempo driver, but failed to get any clue about them. On the basis of reliable information, Crime Branch laid the trap in Juhu and nabbed them, sources added.
In their confession to police, all the accused revealed that, they all are jobless and facing financial problem to run their house, earlier they was working as tourist guides at various tourist destination spots in Mumbai but they stop doing that after stop getting work, they were targeting loaded vehicles on WE highway and after robbing them they used to abandoned them and used to sold robbed goods on cheaper rates.
As they all are tourist guides so it is suspect that they had committed crimes with tourist as well, we are going to check their previous records, but preliminary they will be handed over to Didoshi police for inquiry in one of the robbery case which they confessed for committing, sources added.
