A week after he disappeared, a 37-year-old gardener of a private school in Ghaziabad was found murdered, with his body chopped into three pieces and stuffed into a gunny bag, police said Saturday.
His wife and her two paramours, who have been arrested, are suspects in the crime.
Chhotey alias Lala, a gardener with Delhi Public School (DPS) was identified Saturday after his dead body was cremated.
His clothes were recognised by his parents, which led to the establishing of his identity.
The police said the dead body of the gardner was recovered Friday at Jarcha in Gautam Budh Nagar district.
Local people claimed that they had informed the police about the disappearance but it was ignored and the deceased was cremated as an "unidentified".
Had the police acted promptly, the case could have been made legally strong, they said.
"We have arrested two men Umesh and Rahul both residents of Abupur. They were working with him in the school. The police have taken Chhotey's wife Rajni into custody. Rajni is a mother of three children," said Superintendent of Police Shiv Shankar Yadav.
"Chhotey's dead body was found severed into three pieces wrapped in a gunny bag. His head and arms were separated from rest of the body," the official said.
Chhotey and Rajni have three children - 12-year-old son Bharat, eight-year-old Shivam and the third child is a three-year-old daughter Deepanshi.
"The locals alleged the role of his wife with the help of her two lovers. The investigation is being conducted. The two men have been arrested. The wife is being questioned," Yadav said.u00a0
