A man and his wife have been arrested here on charges of running websites featuring child pornography and collecting huge sum of money as membership fee to view the illegal obscene content, police said today
Chennai: A man and his wife have been arrested here on charges of running websites featuring child pornography and collecting huge sum of money as membership fee to view the illegal obscene content, police said today. Cyber Crime cell of CB-CID got a tip-off that two websites were displaying obscene images and videos of children, a police press release said.
"The information also revealed that a resident of Chennai is hosting these websites," it said.
An inquiry was conducted and it revealed that a man Siddhattha Velu and his wife Priscilla Margaret Dhanaraj were linked with these websites and their email ids were also linked to them, it said.
"Payment for membership of one of the website to the tune of approximately Rs 2.4 crore was credited in the account of Siddhattha Velu with a bank in Bangalore."
A case was registered under provisions of Information Technology Act and searches were conducted at the residence of the couple at Sholinganallur here.
Materials establishing the couple's links with these two child porn websites besides other websites with porn content were recovered and seized, the release said.
