Palghar: A 45-year-old company watchman was bludgeoned to death allegedly by a villager, who then set the victim afire and dumped him in a drain in Vasai here, police said today.
API Sunil Soste of Valiv Police Station said accused Pradeep Senapati beat watchman Srikrishna Dwivedi to death over a long-pending dispute and then poured kerosene on his body and set him ablaze yesterday.
Dwivedi's partially burnt body was then disposed of in a nearby drain, from where it was recovered last evening, police said.
A case has been registered against the absconding accused under section 302 and 201 of the IPC, they said. The body has been sent for postmortem and hunt for the killer is on.
