Two persons were arrested yesterday and remanded to 12 days police custody today by a local court here for trying to mix poison in the drinking water facility at the office of the West Midnapore district Superintendent of Police


Midnapore (WB): Two persons were arrested yesterday and remanded to 12 days police custody today by a local court here for trying to mix poison in the drinking water facility at the office of the West Midnapore district Superintendent of Police.

According to senior police officers, two youths identified as Manoj Thambi and Satish Gupta, both residents of Kharagpur area, were spotted by a constable working at the SP office last evening trying to mix something in an earthen pitcher containing drinking water.

"The accused were immediately held and packets containing poison were found from them. During preliminary interrogation it was known that they had come to meet the SP. We need to investigate further," said a senior district police officer.

The duo was produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Manjushree Mondal today, which remanded them to 12 days police custody.
