Woman robbed at gunpoint, phone snatched in Delhi

In two shocking broad daylight incidents caught on CCTV cameras, a woman was robbed off her gold chain at gunpoint in East Delhi, while in the other one, a mobile phone of a girl was snatched away by bikers in Northeast district.

Accused in both incidents are still at large.

The first one occurred in Kalyanpuri, the mobile snatching was reported from New Usmanpur area.

The Kalyanpuri incident took place on Friday afternoon. The woman was in the market with another woman when the incident happened.

After robbing the woman the criminals were caught on CCTV camera rushing towards one of his associate who was waiting for him on a scooty.

"We have registered a case of robbery and are investigating the incident," said Jasmeet Singh, DCP East.

The other incident took place on Saturday morning, two bikers on a scooty snatched the mobile phone of a girl in Brahampuri area of New Usmanpur. Police said that the number plate was not clear from the CCTV footage. The search was on and a case has been registered.

A total of 5,131 cases of snatching have been reported in Delhi this year till September 15. During the same period in 2019, a total of 4,514 snatching cases were reported. And this comparison is despite the Covid Lockdown period that extended for many months.
