A non-cognizable offence was registered against the actor Mahesh Manjrekar at the Yavat police station in Pune on Friday night for slapping and verbally abusing a driver who hit his car, said police.
The actor was travelling from Pune to Solapur via the Pune National Highway around 11.30 pm on Friday when he allegedly suddenly applied brakes and the vehicle coming from the back hit his car, damaging it a little. Manjrekar then allegedly slapped and verbally abused the driver Kailash Satpute, a Solapur resident. Satpute then approached Yavat police station and filed a complaint.
"The incident occurred on the Pune-Solapur highway near Kudle Biryani around 11.30 pm on Friday. We have registered a non-cognizable case against the actor," said investigating officer Balasaheb Jagtap, attached to the Yavat police station.
A non-cognizable offence under sections 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against Manjrekar.
