Actor Mahesh Manjrekar booked in road rage case

Incident took place when the actor was travelling from Pune to Solapur and the victim’s car hit his vehicle from behind

The Yavat police have booked actor and director Mahesh Manjrekar for slapping and verbally abusing the driver of a car on the Pune-Solapur National Highway on Friday night. According to the police, Manjrekar was travelling from Pune to Solapur via the highway on Friday when the incident took place around 11.30 pm.

While driving he suddenly applied the brakes when a vehicle hit his car from behind, damaging it slightly. Manjrekar then got off his car and allegedly verbally abused and slapped the driver Kailash Satpute, a Solapur resident. Speaking to mid-day, police inspector Bhausaheb Patil from Yavat police station said, "The incident occurred near Kudle Biryani Centre located on the Pune-Solapur National Highway around 11:30 pm.

Manjrekar came out of his car and started abusing Satpute and even slapped him. The Yavat cops patrolling the area reached the spot and based on a complaint of Satpute registered a non-cognizable offence under sections 323 (assault), 504 (abused) and 506 (threatening) of the IPC against the actor."
