Cops found the dead body of a man outside Palghar railway station, an official said on Monday. Per a PTI report, the body had injury marks on it thus sparking suspicions of it being a case of murder. The report added that the deceased was a 40-year-old man.

Inspector Mangesh Andhare from Naigaon police station told PTI that the passers-by spotted the body near a toilet close to the Naigaon railway station on Sunday evening and alerted the cops.

When the police arrived at the spot near Palghar railway station, they sent the body to a government hospital for a post-mortem. The official then told PTI that the deceased was identified as one Bhagoji Uttekar and that the autopsy report is still pending.

Meanwhile, the official said that they have registered a case under the Indian Penal Code Section 302 (murder) and are conducting a probe into the case.

In another case, two brothers were acquitted in a case of attempt to murder by a Thane court citing lack of conclusive evidence and inconsistencies in witness testimonies.

The ruling by Judge AS Bhagwat, dated January 17, became accessible on Sunday.

According to a PTI report, the prosecution said that on June 12, 2018, at a gas station in the Kashimira neighbourhood of the Thane district, Yogesh Deepak Vaity, 32, and his brother Jayesh Deepak Vaity, 37, attacked a guy with a knife intending to kill him.

The defence counsel of the brothers refuted the claims and claimed that they were unjustly accused and had nothing to do with the purported crime, the PTI report added.

Reportedly, during the trial, the complainant man and other prosecution witnesses did not give coherent and persuasive testimony about the occurrence.

Judge Bhagwat came to the conclusion that the prosecution was unable to prove the brothers' guilt beyond a reasonable doubt after examining the material and witness statements, the report added.

It further stated that because of the judge's observations regarding the inconsistent testimony and the dearth of supporting evidence, the accused was given the benefit of the doubt.

Meanwhile, in another unrelated case, nine persons were booked for duping a woman & others of over Rs 2 crore.
