Thane Police have registered a case against the security guard of a housing complex for allegedly firing from his licensed revolver to scare away people in Maharashtra's Thane district, an official said on Thursday.
The 41-year-old accused, an ex-serviceman, fired one round from his revolver on Wednesday night at Kolegaon Naka in Dombivli area and violated the firearm license conditions, Manpada police station inspector Suresh Madne said.

The accused was detained and issued a warning, the official said.

A case was registered against the accused under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act, he added.
