The Palghar ATS, which was investigating the Mangalam Jewellery shop burglary last month at Boisar along with the Boisar police, arrested two of the accused in the crime from Jharkhand on Thursday night.
API Gitaram Shivale, attached to the Palghar ATS, along with his team caught Badruddin Shaikh, 28, and Hashim Shaikh, 32, from Jharkhand's Khattitola Peerpur village with the help of local police and recovered gold ornaments worth around R5 lakh.
According to the police, an ATS team had gone to West Bengal in search of the accused, while another team was in Jharkhand. The team in Jharkhand, on a tip off, laid a trap and with the help of the local police caught the two accused on Thursday night.
During interrogation, the accused revealed the names of the other accused, Alamgir Shaikh, 25, Rafiqe Shaikh, 25, and Jameel Shaikh, 32. "With the help of the arrested accused, we raided the houses of these accused but all were absconding. During further investigation, the names of more accused, Mansoor alias Mistri, Nasu, alias Nasva, Kamruddin, alias Kallu and three-four Nepali nationals (including the security guard) was revealed. Now, the ATS team is preparing to bring the arrested accused to Palghar," said a police officer.
