A Man from Borivli has accused his boss of smashing a table clock on his head for failing to meet his monthly target of selling health insurance plans. Complainant Anand Hawaldar Singh, 30, told the police that he received multiple stitches because of the injury. The Borivli cops have registered an FIR against Anand's 35-year-old manager Amit Surendra Singh.
Anand said he has been working as an associate cluster manager with a health insurance company since last year. He has been asked to sell health insurance schemes of a bank. However, he missed his target of bringing in businesses worth R5 lakh in September.
Anand said he reports to Amit, the associate area head, at the company's branch at Bhandarkar building on S V Road, Borivli West.

"I was unable to achieve my target last month. So I submitted my resignation on October 9, but Amit Singh didn't accept it. At 9.30 am on Saturday, Amit called me up and asked me to submit the details of my work. I told him I had not met my targets and that I would submit all the records in the evening. But he kept abusing me over the phone after I could not respond to one of his calls. He asked me to meet him in the office in the evening," said Anand.
The complainant said he met his boss later in the day. "When I asked him for my incentives, he told me that I won't get any," he added.
Anand said Amit lost his cool when the former refused to discuss the matter in the meeting room and insisted that they talk in front of other employees. "Suddenly, he grabbed a table clock and hit it on my head, shattering its plastic crystal. My head started bleeding profusely, prompting my colleagues to rush me to Shatabdi hospital where doctors removed pieces of plastic from my head and sutured the wound."
The complainant said he had sold insurance plans worth R1.5 lakh against his monthly target of Rs 5 lakh. "I was ready to leave the job and had also given the resignation, but he was not ready to accept it. He would regularly abuse me with filthy language," said the complainant.
Senior Inspector Ninad Sawant of Borivli police station said they have registered a case against Amit under IPC sections pertaining to assault. He said, "We have not arrested him. We will send him Section 41 notice [appearance before police officer] and after that, we will take action accordingly."
