The Charkop police have booked a builder and his family members for allegedly selling several flats to a customer on which he had availed loans from
various banks. According to the police sources, the complainant, a 65-year-old retired man, bought a flat by paying Rs 76 lakh to developer Rajesh Dhanjibhai Sawala in Shiv Ganga society in Bhabrekar Nagar, Kandivli West.

However, he received a notice from Kotak Mahindra Bank which had the same address and flat number, but the name was of Mahesh Sawala and his wife Hiral Sawala. The notice stated that the couple had taken a loan of Rs 56.80 lakh. When he inquired about this with his lawyer and others residing in the building, he got to know that several other flat owners had a similar complaint.

The complainant then approached the Charkop police with a written complaint. Sawala and his associate have been booked in similar cases by the Kandivli and Charkop police, in recent years. "We have registered the case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code against Rajesh Sawala, Ashwin Sawala, and Jayesh Rami. No arrest has been made yet in the case. Investigation is underway," said Senior Inspector Manohar Shinde from Charkop police station.
