Self-proclaimed âsuper cop' Sujata Patil was on Friday caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a shop owner. Patil, the assistant commissioner of police at Meghwadi division, had allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh to register his complaint.
According to police, Subhash Nagar has a shop in Jogeshwari East, which he had given on rent to a woman and her associates. He got the shop back on October 5, but later found its lock broken by the woman he had rented out the shop to.
On October 6, Nagar went to Jogeshwari police station to file a complaint of trespassing in an attempt to grab his shop, but officers refused to do so. He then went to meet Patil who demanded R1 lakh, but he could pay only Rs 10,000 that day. Patil told him to pay the rest of the money as soon as possible.

Unwilling to shell out such a huge sum, Nagar filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) at Worli on October 7. Officers registered his complaint and started a process to verify his allegations, and then set up a trap to nab her.
The ACB officers caught Patil accepting R40,000 from Nagar on Friday. The ACB is conducting a search at her office and residence.
Patil shot to fame when in 2013 she claimed she saved cricketer Vinod Kambli when he suffered a heart attack while stuck in traffic.
In 2018, when she was transferred to Hingoli as deputy superintendent, she wrote to the then chief minister, demanding that she be shifted back to Mumbai, or she would kill herself.
