Navin Vishwakarma and Kami Gore were nabbed by the police
Officials attached to NRI Coastal Police Station have arrested two persons, and are searching for two, for allegedly breaking into multiple flats. The modus operandi of the accused was to get a job in a housing society and keep a watch on the movement of residents and closed flats. Once the accused got a complete wind of these, a tip-off was given to others in the gang who would enter the society as delivery boys and steal valuables.
In the latest offence, the accused had managed to steal valuables worth Rs 25.19 lakh. The police, however, managed to recover valuables worth Rs 21.20 lakh.
On the morning of September 25, Nandlal Jain, Seawoods resident, received a call from neighbours that somebody had broken the lock of his flat. Jain called his nephew Sandeep Jain and asked him to check. When Sandeep reached, he found the latch of the door broken and the flat vandalised. He called the police and registered a complaint. An offence was registered at the NRI Coastal police station.

During the investigation, cops found that one of the security guards from the society had gone missing the same morning. "We formed a team to investigate the theft as owners of the said flat had gone outstation for a few days," said DCP (zone 1) Vivek Pansare.
The cops got clues from CCTV footage in the area. "We found that two persons suspected to have been involved in the theft had previous records of committing similar crimes. They were traced and arrested from Dahisar and Pune," added another officer. The cops arrested Navin Vishwakarma and Kami Gore on September 28.
