The Mulund police on Thursday registered a case against unknown persons for stealing valuables worth more than Rs. 40 lakh from a high-rise in Mulund (West).
The accused stole gold jewellery and cash worth Rs 35 lakh and Rs 4 lakh from the building which was recently occupied by the residents.

Punit Shah, a resident of Ashok Platinum, a 23-storey high-rise, had gone to Matheran with his family for a couple of days. On Tuesday evening when they returned, they found the main door was open.
"When we entered inside flat, things were scattered. I checked the safe to find jewellery and cash was missing, " said Shah. "The jewellery has some ancestral ornaments worth Rs. 35 lakh," he added.
The Ashok Platinum has been developed by Ashwamedh Builders and Developers. The building does not have any fixed entrance, there is no security guard or CCTV cameras.

"We have recorded statements of the complainant and will soon start investigating the matter. The accused has not been identified," Assistant Police Inspector Santosh Kamble said.
