The Worli police have booked the director of a leading brand of sweets and snacks on the charges of drugging and raping a 30-year-old Versova resident after meeting her via a dating app.
The accused and the survivor had met via Tinder a few months ago, and on Monday, he allegedly invited her to a five-star hotel, saying it was his birthday and he had thrown a party. There, he allegedly laced her drinks with sedatives and raped her. The survivor is currently admitted at Cooper hospital for her medical examination. She had registered a complaint with the Versova police station, which transferred the case to their counterparts in Worli, as the incident took place under their jurisdiction. The Worli police on Wednesday registered a case against the businessman under Sections 328 (administering intoxicants) and 376 (rape).
According to the complaint, the survivor went to the hotel around 7 pm and he offered her a drink and soon she fell unconscious. On reaching home, she started hurting and went to Cooper Hospital, where she told her family what had happened.
"The accused is a well-known man. I am scared," she told mid-day on Thursday. A police officer told mid-day that they have formed a squad to search for the accused. "The survivor says the accused is a big businessman. We are verifying it," the officer added.

Senior Inspector Anil Koli said, "On the complaint of the woman, police registered an FIR. She is hospitalised and is undergoing treatment." mid-day has not named the accused as the police refused to confirm his identity.
