A decomposed body of a man, aged between 40 to 50 years, was discovered in a water tank located in a building under the jurisdiction of Oshiwara police in Mumbai on Thursday night. The police have registered a case of murder in connection with this incident, and the crime branch is also conducting a separate investigation parallel to the police's efforts.
The body was found at an under construction building situated in the Minara Tower area of Jogeshwari West. Investigators believe that the person was killed approximately 15 days ago and then disposed of in the safety tank of the building in an attempt to conceal the evidence.
The shocking discovery came to light on Thursday at 9 pm when a complainant named Ranjit Kumar Singh (48), who is a security supervisor, had called a plumber named Sahdev Sahani for plumbing work on August 3 at 6:30 pm. While Sahdev was performing the plumbing task, he removed the plywood cover on the middle tank of the safety tank and stumbled upon the lifeless body inside.
As a result, the authorities have registered a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with murder, and an investigation is currently underway. Both the Oshiwara police and the crime branch Unit 9 are involved in the investigation, and senior officials have assured that more details about the case will be disclosed soon.
