The Ghatkopar Police in Mumbai have have booked a biker and a pillion rider for allegedly crashing into a woman, her one-year-old daughter and later fleeing from the spot, the police said on Monday.

According to the police, the incident was captured in a CCTV installed at the spot. The CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media, showing the complete accident.

"It clearly showed the biker running away, and the woman was helped by locals to get up. The screen grab of the suspect has been shared with authorities, requesting help to trace him," a police officer said.

The biker has been identified as Surendra More. The police are yet to arrest the accused and are investigating the matter.

The biker and the pillion rider were booked for rash driving and hitting the woman who was identified as Rubina Khan, 28 and her one-year-old daughter.

The woman was returning after enrolling her daughter's Aadhar card.

The biker, along with the pillion rider, fled from the scene. The CCTV footage of the incident and a picture of the biker went viral, leading to the tracing of the biker, and police took action by registering a case.

According to the police, the incident took place on Friday, January 12, at around 12 pm. Rubina Khan, a homemaker, was crossing the road with her one-year-old daughter when the incident took place.

"The woman was returning home after enrolling her daughter's Aadhar card for her daughter. While crossing the NSS road, a speeding motorcycle hit her. The biker fled from the spot while Khan and her daughter fell down on the road. After the incident, the locals gathered and shifted the mother and her daughter to a hospital. Both had minor injuries and were sent back home after primary treatment," said a police officer

The police team started the investigation, and with the help of the bike (MH 03 DT 0708), the biker was identified as Surendra More.

"The woman and the biker were found to be from the same area. Earlier, the woman did not file a complaint. But as she later filed a complaint, we registered a case under sections 337, 279, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and started the investigation," said a police official.
