A headless corpse of a woman stuffed inside a suitcase was recovered by the police near Bhui Gaon beach in Vasai west on Monday afternoon.
The body has not been identified yet, cops said.
"We have recovered a headless body of a woman stuffed in a suitcase stuck in water channel in Vasai west. We have sent the body to JJ Hospital in Mumbai for post mortem as the matter is very sensitive," said Zonal Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar Patil who reached the spot where the suitcase was found.

The investigating team has started looking for missing complaints registered at police stations in Mumbai, Palghar, Thane and Navi Mumbai to establish the identity of woman whose headless body was found.
An FIR has been registered at Vasai police station against unknown persons under sections 302 and 201 of Indian Penal Code," said Patil.
