The Dindoshi Police arrested a 28-year-old man who allegedly attempted to slit his girlfriend's throat following a refusal for marriage, the police said.
According to police sources, the incident took place on Thursday evening at Rani Sati Marg in Malad east. The accused was identified as Rajendra Parab from Kajupada area of Borivli east.
He works as a plumber on contract basis at Hindu Hruday Samrat Balasaheb Thackerey Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari, an official said.
During the investigation, the police learnt that he was in a relationship with the victim but her family refused the marriage proposal after which the victim started avoiding him. Angered by the victim ignoring him for the past three months, the accused allegedly began to stalk her, he even had arguments with her on a couple of occasions, sources added.

"The victim works at an imitation jewellery workshop and resided in the same locality where the accused lived. On Thursday, when she was on her way home and waiting to board a bus at Pushpa Park bus stop, Parab reached out to her and the two had a heated argument. He then pulled out a knife and attacked her and later fled away from the crime scene," an officer said.
The locals informed the police following which the Dindoshi Police officials rushed to the spot and admitted the victim to a hospital.
"Based on her statement, we have registered a case under section 307 of IPC and arrested the accused, he was produced before a court that remanded him in police custody,'' said another officer.
