The wife complained about the incident only after one of her children died
A six-year-old died and two children are still hospitalised after their father gave them rat poison following a fight with his wife. The children's mother filed a complaint after her son died at Sion hospital. A manhunt has been launched for the 27-year-old father.
According to the Mankhurd police, the incident occurred on June 25. They received a call from Sion hospital informing them about three children having consumed rat poison.
The police reached the hospital and recorded the parents' statements. "The parents told us that while they were asleep, the children consumed rat poison and were admitted to the hospital," said Prakash Chaugle, senior police inspector, Mankhurd police.

The children have been identified as Aleena Ansari, 7, Alishaan Ansari, 6, and two-and-a-half-year-old Arman Ansari. According to police, on June 29, they again received a call from the hospital saying Alishaan had died. "We again visited the hospital and at that time, the mother, Nazia Begum, revealed that her husband had fed rat poison to the children," Chaugle said.
The police found that Mohammed Ali Naushad Ansari and Nazia used to fight daily over financial matters. According to Nazia, Mohammed used to work at a construction site and earned Rs 500 every day but gave her only Rs 100-Rs 150 to run the household.
On the day of the incident, the couple fought again and Mohammed left to take the children to his sister-in-law's house. He had carried rat poison with him. On the way, Aleena asked for ice cream and he fed the three kids rat poison, saying it is ice cream.
"When the kids started feeling unwell, he took them to the hospital and informed his wife as well. Later, when Aleena gained consciousness, she said that their father had fed them something," Chaugle added.
The police said that Nazia did not plan to reveal what really happened had her son not died. But Alishaan's death prompted her to tell the police the truth. "Based on her statement, a case of murder has been registered and we are searching for the absconding father," Chaugle said.
