A man was killed and four others were injured in a firing incident that took place in Chunabhatti area of Mumbai on Sunday afternoon, police sources said.
The police suspect it to be a case of personal rivalry, however, the investigations in different angles area underway, sources added.
"Around 15:15 hrs in Chunabhatti area there was an incident of firing in which a person named Sumit Yerunkar got killed and some others were injured in the incident. All the injured persons are stable and currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Accused in the matter have been identified and as many as nine different teams have been formed to investigate the case. The teams are also searching for the accused persons involved in the crime. The reason of firing is suspected to be personal rivalry," an official said.
In the firing incident, Sumit was seriously injured and was later shifted to Sion hospital where he was pronounced dead, sources said.

The incident occurred in the Azad Galli locality in Chunabhatti area of the eastern suburbs of Kurla in Mumbai. It was at around 3:15 pm when the suspects reached the spot and opened fire. Multiple rounds were fired during the incident, sources said.
The accused allegedly fired around 16 rounds, the said.
The Chunabhatti Police and senior police officials rushed to the spot after receiving the information regarding the incident. The Mumbai Crime Branch officials too rushed to the spot for investigations. The Mumbai Crime Branch have also been conducting parallel investigations in the case, sources added.
Sources said that Sumit alias Pappu Yerunkar is suspected to be a prime target in the incident and several others were also injured. Sumit had been allegedly previously involved in some cases.
A senior Mumbai crime branch official said, "As per primary information, the number of suspects in the firing incident were two who opened fire at the deceased and four injured persons. Multiple rounds were fired in the incident. Several teams are working on the primary clues in the matter and also to nab the culprits."
