An 11-year-old boy, who was apprehended and sent to remand home in connection with a case of rape of a five-year-old girl in Boisar, is innocent, revealed investigations. MIDC police, which was probing the crime that took place on September 13, has found that a 25-year-old man from the same locality as the two minors was behind the crime.
The incident took place on September 13 when the minor girl was alone at home. The accused allegedly took her to the terrace of the building, raped her and brought her back home.
The girl narrated the ordeal to her mother, who took her to the doctor. The woman also informed the police about the incident and named the 11-year-old boy as a suspect.
Police then apprehended the minor boy and sent him to Bhiwandi Children's Remand Home. However, during further investigation it was revealed that the minor was innocent.

Palghar Superintendent Of Police Dattatray Shinde said, "The mother of the survivor named the 11-year-old as an accused while registering the complaint. As this is a sensitive matter, we formed four teams and investigated the matter thoroughly. We later found out that the minor is innocent. We identified the accused who works for a Boisar-based industrial unit and lives in the same area."
Police officers have released the minor boy from the remand home and will remove his name from the case and police crime records.
