Mumbai Police on Friday arrested three persons for allegedly murdering a 23-year-old man last week.
The body of the slain Aman Abdul Karim Shaikh, a resident of Bainganwadi in Govandi, was found in Mithi river near MTNL junction in Kurla West on January 5, a Mumbai Police official said.
"He was missing since January 4. The Crime Branch Unit V also started a parallel probe along with local Kurla police. Five teams were formed and three Govandi residents were held on the basis of technical analysis and human intelligence," the official said as per newswire PTI.
"We recovered two firearms, one khukri (a type of knife), one more knife and an autorickshaw that was used in the crime. He was killed as one of the accused Nafis Khan believed the former was in a relationship with his wife," he said.

Khan called Shaikh to his home and strangled him with the help of two friends, he said.

A murder case was registered at Kurla police station and further probe into the crime is underway, he added.
Man held for killing history sheeter over extortion in Latur
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man was arrested from Telangana for allegedly killing a history sheeter who was extorting money from him in Maharashtra's Latur district, police said on Friday.
Based on a tip-off, the police on Thursday apprehended the accused, Jalim Akhil Shaikh, from the Borabanda area of Hyderabad, a police official said.
The accused had absconded after attacking and killing Farooq alias Mukdya Sujatali Sayyed while the latter was asleep in the premises of a dargah in Tajuddin Baba Nagar of Latur on January 6, the official said.
Sayyed, who had several cases to his name, allegedly extorted money from the accused on multiple occasions and threatened to beat him up, the official said.
The victim was bludgeoned and stabbed to death, the official said, adding that a case of murder has been registered against the accused. Investigations into the incident are going on. (With inputs from agencies)
