Accused Mohammad Furkan Sheikh (Sitting)
A 21-year-old theft accused who managed to escape from St George's Hospital was nabbed by Mumbai crime branch.
According to the crime branch, accused Mohammad Furkan Sheikh was arrested by Vikhroli police on charges of chain snatching. He was lodged in Thane jail after the court sent him to judicial custody.
During his time in jail, Sheikh tested positive for Covid-19 and was admitted to St George's Hospital.
On January 25, Sheikh ran away from the hospital on pretext of going to the toilet.

The Unit 7 of Crime Branch received a complaint from Thane jail and started investigating. They received information that Sheikh was hiding out at in Tilaknagar.
A Crime Branch official told mid-day that Sheikh still had around his wrist when he escaped. On January 21, Sheikh was admitted to St. George's Hospital and on the morning of 25, he escaped from the hospital.
A total of five cases of theft are registered against Sheikh, out of which two are in Jogeshwari and the remaining three are in Dharavi, Kherwadi and Vikhroli police stations.
Police officer in-charge of Crime Branch Unit 7 Puja Thorat told mid-day, "The accused has been arrested and handed over to the MRA Marg police."
