Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday visited the hospital where his critically injured party leader has been admitted following shooting incident inside a police station and termed the Thane BJP MLA firing case as a "very unfortunate incident", reported the PTI.
A BJP MLA had allegedly fired several rounds on a Shinde-led Shiv Sena leader inside a police station in Ulhasnagar are of Thane district in Maharashtra.
CM Shinde visited the hospital where critically injured Mahesh Gaikwad is being treated for gunshot injuries, as per the PTI.
"Eknath Shinde on Saturday visited the hospital to enquire about the health of Mahesh Gaikwad. He was apprised by doctors about Gaikwad's health condition. He wished speedy recovery for Gaikwad," an official release said, according to the PTI.

CM Eknath Shinde also took detailed information about the incident from police officers, it said.
Kalyan MLA Ganpat Gaikwad of BJP opened fire on Mahesh Gaikwad, the Shinde-led Sena's Kalyan unit chief, inside the chamber of the senior inspector of Hill Line police station in Ulhasnagar area on Friday night, a senior police officer said.
Police have arrested Ganpat Gaikwad, Harshal Kene, (34) and Sandeep Sarwankar (45), and formed four teams to trace other accused.
A video of firing inside the police station has gone viral on social media.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad was officially arrested by the police following the firing incident. Considering the security issues, The Thane Police had requested the court for a hearing via video conferencing. However, the judge rejected application and asked the police to produce all the accused in court physically.
A court in Thane district on Saturday remanded BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad, arrested for allegedly opening fire on a local Shiv Sena leader inside a police station, to police custody till February 14.
Gaikwad and two others were produced before a court of First Class Judicial Magistrate in Ulhasnagar in the evening.
FCJM AA Nikam remanded the trio to police custody till February 14, a senior police officer told PTI.
