An offence has been registered against a man for allegedly beating up his former girlfriend's mother in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Monday, reported news agency PTI.
Based on a complaint, the police have registered an offence under section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by the use of a dangerous weapon or means) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, an official said, reported PTI.
The incident took place Panchpakhadi area on November 11, when the accused arrived at the victim's house and quarrelled with her, he said, reported PTI.
The accused kicked the woman and beat her up. As the victim raised an alarm, her neighbours intervened and rushed her to a hospital, the official said, reported PTI.

In another case, three men allegedly posing as policemen robbed a shopowner of jewellery worth Rs 1.89 lakh in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Monday, reported PTI.
According to the police, the victim was travelling on a two-wheeler with his wife on Sunday afternoon when he was accosted by two men who claimed to be policemen, reported PTI.
The duo allegedly warned the victim that there was some inspection underway, and people were advised not to wear jewellery, an official said, reported PTI.
The victim was asked to remove his jewellery, place it on a paper and put it in his pocket. As he was putting away the valuables, another accused arrived at the scene, causing a distraction and allowing the duo to replace the paper containing the valuables, he said, reported PTI.
In this manner, the trio decamped with jewellery worth Rs 1.89 lakh, the official said, adding that a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, reported PTI.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man from Thane in Maharashtra ordered a smartphone worth Rs 46,000 from an online shopping platform but allegedly received three soap bars in the parcel delivered to him, police said on Monday, reported PTI.
The victim has been cheated by someone who tampered with the parcel enroute for delivery, an official from Bhayander police station said, reported PTI.
The man had ordered an iPhone worth Rs 46,000 from an online shopping portal, reported PTI.
On November 9, when he opened the package delivered to him, he found three soap bars used for dishwashing in a carton of the mobile phone, as per the police complaint filed by the man, who works at a photocopy shop, reported PTI.
The police on Saturday registered an offence against the unidentified culprit under Indian Penal Code section 420 (cheating), the official said, reported PTI.
A probe was on into the case, he added.
