After 24 days of treatment, Mahesh Gaikwad, the ex-corporator and city president of Eknath Shinde faction who was severley injured after BJP MLA had fired six rounds on him, was finally discharged from the hospital on Monday, February 26.
A huge mob of supporters had gathered near Thane's Jupiter hospital to welcome Mahesh Gaikwad. He left for his home accommpained by his wife and children. Banners were put in Kalyan and Dombivali stating Mahesh Gaikwad as future MLA with slogans like 'Tiger Abi Zinda Hai.'
Mahesh Gaikwad, the leader from Eknath Shindes' Shiv Sena, was hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit of Thane's Jupiter hospital on February 2, after BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad had fired six bullets on him inside the Hill line police station in Ulhasnagar. The incident took place inside the cabin of senior police inspector, after the two leaders had gone to the police station after an internal dispute regarding to a land.
The entire incident was recorded in the CCTV and the BJP MLA was arrested immediately and cases were registered against six others.

Almost after 24 days of treatment Mahesh Gaikwad was declare fit and was discharge from the hospital. Speaking with the media after the discharge, Mahesh Gaikwad said, "I was following up on various issues in Kalyan East and every time MLA Ganpat Gaikwad was creating problems. Not only in social work but also in my business, he created many difficulties for my partners."
"I contacted Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Kapil Patil, Public Works Minister Ravindra Chavan and told them everything about the harassment. Every time they understood me and I was told that they were in alliance," the Shiv Sena leader said.
"Ganpat Gaikwad, was doing injustice to the farmers and I stood for them against Ganpat Gaikwad, so they shot at me. He came to BJP in 2019 by taking an chance, he is not a BJP worker. What he did is not the culture of BJP. I have faith in CM Eknath Shinde, DCM Devendra Fadnavis that MLA Ganpat Gaikwad will get severe punishment," added Mahesh Gaikwad.
After the firing incident the Hill Line police station registered a case. The investigation was handed over to the Thane crime branch who arrested MLA Ganpat Gaikwad his associates. While Ganpat Gaikwad son Vaibhav is still absconding and the police are in search of him.
