Looks like Jai Ho may become the catchphrase of the next year as well.

Music composer A R Rahman's track from the Danny Boyle Oscar-winning film, Slumdog Millionaire has been nominated for the Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media at the 2010 Grammy Awards.

The soundtrack from the film has also been nominated for the Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media award.

Universal appeal

"The track had a different kind of energy it was racy and energetic. I knew from the beginning that it had a universal appeal.

Will He Do It Again? A R Rahman's track from Slumdog Millionaire had won two Oscars this year.

There's no doubt that Rahman's work deserves an award, but apart from the song, his talent deserves an award," said singer Sukhwinder Singh, who sung Jai Ho.

Singh remembers how lyricist Gulzar, who wrote the song, inspired him inside the studio over a cup of coffee.

"Gulzarsaab was looking at me all the time while sipping coffee. He was very expressive.

I read the ideas and expressions from his eyes as I sang. By the time I was done with the song, he had finished his coffee," recalled Singh.

Jai Ho has been nominated alongside The Wrestler by Bruce Springsteen, Decode from Twilight, The Climb sung by Miley Cyrus and Once in a Lifetime by Beyonce Knowles, who has bagged 10 Grammy nominations, the maximum for any artist this year.

Slumdog's soundtrack too has tough competition from Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds and Twilight.
