...And the wait is still on, says a Pune resident, who needs the hard copy from the national carrier to get a travel reimbursement from his office

At a time when private airlines are falling over themselves to please and retain their customers in a fiercely competitive market, the loss-making Air India has allegedly been making a flyer run from pillar to post for two months for a printout of his ticket. Pune resident Satish Koparde, who is a technical officer with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), needs the printout to claim travel reimbursement from his office since he has lost his copy of the ticket. Koparde had travelled from Pune to Port Blair via Chennai with his family on an Air India flight on November 21 last year and had returned on an Air India flight on November 27.

"Every time I approach the Air India office at Pune airport, the officials either say that they don't keep past records or direct me to another of their offices near Pune RTO. When I approached the other office, they told me initially that I would get the printout in a few days and then said that I would get it from the office at the airport and not from them," Koparde told MiD DAY. "My reimbursement has been put on hold because of the printout. I don't know who to approach anymore, as officials at both offices are refusing to accept my written requests and are confusing me with different versions each time," he added.

The Other Side
"If the ticket is lost, a certificate of journey can be issued to the passenger if he submits the details of his journey to the concerned airport or to the Air India office in the city where he has conducted the journey. However, it takes a little time if the journey has been conducted some months ago as all the records have to be verified," said an Air India spokesperson.
