Even as the confusion over the medical entrance tests continues, Mumbai University cancelled its BBA-LLB entrance test for the five-year integrated course at the last moment.
The decision to cancel the exam was taken following an order by the Maharashtra government to include these students in the state-organised entrance test for law courses. While students were informed about the changes through telephonic conversation, it has come as a shocker to many.
The Mumbai University had begun an entrance test for its five-year integrated course of BBA-LLB. The test, which was scheduled for April 30, was suddenly canceled on April 29 following an order from the state government. However, the state-conducted CET (Common Entrance Test) for law courses is to continue without any changes. These tests which are scheduled on May 18 (for three year course) and May 19 (for five year course) will be conducted as per scheduled. Admission to the five year integrated course by University will also be determined by score of candidate in this entrance test.
Even though only Mumbai University's separate entrance test for the law course was canceled, several candidates preparing for the common law entrance test got confused about whether there was going to be any entrance test or not.
When contacted, Leeladhar Bansod, Public Relations Officer of the Mumbai University, clarified, "There is no confusion. Even as we received order to cancel the separate CET on April 29 it was informed to all students immediately."
Sachin Pawar, President of Law students' Council, said, "How can they cancel any examination at last moment. This is so inappropriate to tell students that their examination is canceled a day before it was scheduled. Moreover, there is no clarity over how the admissions will be done now to this course. Even as MU's entrance test is canceled, there is no clarity given to students that state-CET is to continue and will be considered for admission to MU's integrated course as well."
