In a tragic twist of fate, an adventure-loving teenager was found dead in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, 11 days after he went missing. His mauled remains were found near a pond on October 1 in the national park.

Officials claim that Sanjay Borle (19) was a victim of a leopard attack and had it not been for his identity card, it would have been nearly impossible to identify his remains.

body

According to Senior Inspector Rajendra Thakur of Kasturba Marg police station, a call from the control room informed them about a mauled body found near a pond by the Gaon Devi mandir inside the national park. "A local resident Pradeep Pandya's attention was drawn to the dead body when he noticed several crows hovering over one spot. To his horror, he discovered a mangled body at the spot. He immediately called up the police control room," said Thakur.

Thakur added that when they reached the spot, they only found the lower half of a male body and one hand. "When we searched the body, we found the identity card of Kohinoor Technical Institute with Sanjay Borle's name on it. We notified the family and the body was sent to Bhagwati Hospital for post mortem."

Commenting on Borle's disappearance from home, Borivli police station's Sub-Inspector B D Kokitkar said that the family registered a missing persons complaint on September 20, after their son failed to return home from college on September 19. "The family went to Kohinoor Technical Institute on September 20, to see if their son, who studied mobile repairing, had come to college. But when they were informed that he was not present, the family immediately rushed to the police station and lodged a complaint."

Meanwhile, Borle's family members were under shock and were unable to speak of their loss. However, a relative close to the family, said, "Sanjay was a very adventurous boy and may be he paid the price for it. The family will take a long time to get over his loss, as he was the only hope for the family to earn a living."
