117 platoons placed in the city for elections

As Mumbai went to polls on Thursday, the police had identified 169 of the 8,316 polling centers as vulnerable to violence, of which 63 have been identified as sensitive. These sensitive polling centers have been provided with additional security measures, including paramilitary forces.

According to a senior police officer, several of these polling booths are concentrated in the suburbs.

Out of 63 areas - 49 sensitive zones are in suburbs and 14 in South Mumbai.

15 platoons of Border Security Force (BSF), 9 platoons of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and 93 police force has been placed in the city.
