11k sari is a winning statement

Shanta Shamji Salunke, a corporator from Rajan Vichare's the Thane City constituency, decked up in a saree worth Rs 11,000, to express her support for the Shiv Sena candidate.

"I bought this saree two days back especially for this day and even made sure my blouse was ready, as I was confident that he will win," said Salunke.

She accessorised the saree with three gold necklaces, earrings and bangles. "I always make sure I wear new clothes on important days. It brings luck," said Salunke, busy flaunting her attire to other women supporters at the counting centre at VPM College in Thane yesterday.

"Everybody celebrates their victory by distributing sweets, but not even the candidate will spend so much on their attire. But for me celebrating victory is by dressing up from head to toe," stated Salunke who has twice been elected as as corporator from Ward No 159.
