2016 MHADA lottery: 4275 affordable homes up for grabs in February

MHADA’s Konkan board has decided to hold a lottery for 4275 homes on February 24. The homes are spread in Virar, Thane, Mira Road and Vengurla


The Konkan board of Maharashtra Housing and Development Authority (MHADA) has decided to hold a lottery for 4275 homes on February 24. The homes are spread in Virar, Thane, Mira Road and Vengurla.

The advertisement for the homes will be out on Tuesday and online registration for the homes shall commence from Wednesday. The online applications for the homes will be accepted from January 15. The online registration will be open till February 7 and online applications will be accepted till February 9.

There are 3755 homes in Virar, 19 in Thane's Balkum, 310 in Mira Road, 164 in Kavesar Thane and 27 in Vengurla. Almost all of the houses are for lower and economically weaker section group except for 1315 homes that are for Middle Income Group (MIG) and higher income group (HIG). The number of houses in the HIG section is six, that too in Vengurla.

The per square foot a rate for the homes for MIG in Virar are at above Rs 6,000, which is very close to the market rate in the area. All the houses in Thane are for the economically weaker sections.

The lottery will be held on February 24 at Rangsharda auditorium in Bandra west. The categories are divided on the basis of the salary of the individual. For being eligible to apply in EWS the person's salary should be up to Rs 16,000. For LIG, the salary bracket is between Rs 16,001 to Rs 40,000, for MIG it is Rs 40,001 to 70,000 and HIG is bracketed at Rs 70,001 and above.

This time in Virar, the size of the houses for MIG has been increased to 60.73 square meters.
