The detailed plan of Dighe station includes two platforms, two lifts, four escalators and four underpasses
Work on Dighe station on the trans-harbour line between Thane and Airoli stations has reached an advanced pace and will be completed by this year-end. This will be the 81st station on the Mumbai Central Railway (CR) line. As the work on Thane-Diva lines has been completed, the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) said it will now prioritise and focus on finising the new Dighe station. The station will be a starting point for a new proposed elevated corridor from Airoli to Kalwa.
The station will consist of a ground-plus two-storey structure on both sides for booking offices, with four ticket windows on either side
Thane Member of Parliament (MP) Rajan Vichare, who inspected the station work last week along with MRVC and Navi Mumbai civic body officials, said, "Work on the station is at an advanced stage and is slated to be completed by December 2022. Around 60 per cent of the work is complete. The detailed plan includes two platforms - 270-metre long and 12-metre wide - each for 12-car local trains, along with several passenger amenities, including two lifts and four escalators and four underpasses."
"Dighe station is coming up between Thane and Airoli stations, just adjacent to the point where the Thane-Belapur road crosses over the Thane-Vashi line. It will be the main focal point in the coming years for the diversion of Vashi trains to the Kalwa line, to reach Kalyan on the mainline. Basic station structures are taking shape and we have called for work orders for escalators and elevators. The work on rail flyover towards Kalwa will begin soon after the station work is completed, as a part of phase two of the project," a top official said. MRVC officials said the total project cost is about Rs 110 crore, including a ground-plus two-storey structure on both sides of the station for booking offices with four ticket windows on either side.
