In yet another addition to the ever-increasing list of crimes against women, a minor was repeatedly gang-raped by nine men over a period of 10 months. The Borivli police have detained five men from Borivli (West) for allegedly raping the 17-year-old girl on different occasions from January till October 2013.
The girl, in her complaint, has named six men out of the nine who used to threaten her and take turns to rape her. According to the police, the girl, a resident of Andheri, had gone near a BMC school in Borivli (West) with her boyfriend in January. Here, two of the nine men intercepted them. They threatened the boyfriend and raped the girl. They then called seven other friends, who then took turns in raping the minor.
After this incident, the men used to blackmail the girl that they would inform her family about her affair with her boyfriend and using this as an excuse, raped her. On November 30, the girl complained of stomach pain and her uncle took her to a local hospital. Doctors there advised them to take her to JJ Hospital, where the family learnt that she was pregnant. This is when the girl narrated the incident to her uncle.
The girl and her uncle then approached the Andheri police station and registered a complaint on December 7 naming seven men Rahul, Tushar, Dilip, Sonu, Fodu, Yogesh and three of Sonu's relatives, whose names the girl didn't know. On Monday, the Borivli police detained five men. They are now trying to locate the remaining accused.
